Getting to RTS

By Bus

Many buses pass close to the new school site including the 33, 110, 267, 281, 290, 490, H22, R68 and R70.

There are bus stops on Whitton Road and London Road, as well as in Twickenham town centre.

By Train

Regular mainline trains run to Twickenham station from Waterloo and Reading.

District Line and Overground trains terminate at Richmond where you can change for Twickenham.

Walking or Cycling

Twickenham Station is about a 15 minute walk from the new school site. When exiting the station turn right onto London Road, once you reach the traffic lights turn left onto Whitton Road. From Whitton Road take the second left down Heathfield South.

At the end of Heathfield South you will be able to see Clarendon School. Turn right for the RTS. RTS can be accessed from the northern end of Egerton Road (near the site of the College's new buildings next to the A316).

By Car

The school site is located adjacent to the A316 (Chertsey Road) on the opposite side to the Rugby Stadium in Twickenham.

The school has limited staff and visitor car parking facilities.

This car parking is accessed via the A316 dual carriageway travelling West.

Visitors to the School Site - COVID-19

Guidance for visitors: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Visitors to the school site are permitted strictly by appointment only, and only when your visit is essential.

If you are visiting the school with an appointment, please make sure that:

  • Wait in the foyer for the member of staff you are visiting

  • You sign in on arrival

  • Your temperature is taken

  • You wash and/or sanitise your hands when you arrive and as necessary during your visit

  • You carry a mask or face covering and wear it as directed/required

  • You maintain a safe distance (at least 1 metre, and ideally two metres) from other people at all times

We have comprehensive processes in place to keep our community safe. Further details are available on request, but key points include:

  • We have developed a clear protocol and provision in the event of a member of staff or student presenting with COVID-19 symptoms while at school. This includes clearly defined safe areas for isolation until an individual can safely travel home.

  • We have put in place enhanced handwashing facilities. This includes the installation of hand sanitiser dispensers at all external entry points and in key locations in corridors, and hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes are available in all classrooms.

  • We provide tissues to all classrooms, along with lidded waste bins for the safe storage of used tissues.

  • We are asking all staff, students and visitors to wear masks in corridors, on school buses, and other shared areas. Masks are also to be worn in classrooms.

  • We have put in place a comprehensive communications plan, delivered through posters across the site and verbal reminders from staff, to ensure good hand and respiratory hygiene.

  • We have significantly enhanced cleaning provision. All our cleaning personnel have received specific training on cleaning for COVID-19.

  • Our students have been grouped in “bubbles”, to help minimise any unnecessary contact and enable us to track any close contacts quickly if need arises.

  • We are enforcing social distancing: verbal reminders and posters are reiterating the messaging, classrooms and dining rooms have been laid out to minimise face to face contact, and physical reminders such as barriers and line markings are in place to minimise inadvertent contact.

  • We have designated, distinct year group drop off and pick up locations to avoid mixing at the beginning and end of each day.

  • We have strict controls in place to ensure parents/carers do not come into school unless it is essential.

  • All staff have completed safety training in respect of COVID-19.

How You Can Help Us:

Limiting the spread of infection is everyone’s responsibility. You can help us to keep our community safe by:

  • Washing your hands frequently, with soap and water.

  • Using tissues (or the crook of your elbow) whenever you need to cough or sneeze, disposing safely of your used tissues and washing your hands immediately.

  • Staying at least 2-metres apart from other people.

  • Staying away from School if you have symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been in close contact with a confirmed case, in line with Government guidance.

  • Respecting and supporting all of the safety measures that we have put in place.

If you have any questions about health and safety, and especially as it relates to the controls we have put in place to minimise the risk from COVID-19, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Andy Pelton, Head of Health and Safety, by email APelton@rts.richmond.sch.uk
